Service 01 · Consultation
Assessment and
diagnosis.
The assessment consultation determines whether your case needs surgery or not. I review your clinical history, physical examination and previous investigations (laboratory tests, ultrasound, endoscopy) to reach a diagnosis and, from there, recommend medical treatment, surgery or further studies. A sound diagnosis avoids unnecessary operations.
At the consultation I review your clinical history, your symptoms and any previous investigations (laboratory tests, ultrasound, endoscopy). From there we decide whether your case needs medical treatment, surgery or further studies.
If you already have a diagnosis from another doctor, I can give you a second opinion before you decide on surgery.

Service 02 · Laparoscopic surgery
Minimal invasion,
maximum safety.
Laparoscopic surgery operates through millimetre incisions and a camera, rather than a large incision. It is the preferred technique for gallbladder, hernia and appendix procedures when indicated, and usually means less postoperative pain and a recovery of 1 to 2 weeks for cholecystectomy and appendectomy, and 2 to 4 weeks for hernias.
Most gallbladder, hernia and appendix operations can be performed laparoscopically: small incisions, a camera and a shorter hospital stay.
Not every case is a candidate: previous surgery, complications or certain anatomy may require open surgery. This is decided at the consultation.
The procedure is carried out at Hospital Angeles Lomas or Hospital Español de México, with personal follow-up until your full recovery.

Service 03 · Open surgery
When the case
calls for it.
Open surgery uses a conventional incision. It is indicated when laparoscopy is not safe or not feasible: complex cases, advanced emergencies, adhesions from multiple previous operations, or certain anatomy. The hospital stay and recovery are longer and are defined case by case: the approach is always chosen with your safety first.
Complex cases, emergencies, or patients with a history of multiple previous operations may require an open approach to guarantee the safety of the procedure.
The management of the case, the technique and the length of hospital stay are decided for each patient, always putting safety ahead of the surgical approach.
If I would not consider an institution safe enough for myself or for a member of my family, I would not consider it a first option for a patient either: the approach is always chosen with their safety first.

Service 04 · Follow-up
Follow-up matters
as much as the surgery.
Postoperative follow-up consists of review appointments to check the surgical wound, the pathology results where applicable, and how your symptoms are progressing. It continues until full recovery and discharge are confirmed, and it is the moment to resolve any question that comes up at home.
After surgery we schedule review appointments to check the wound, pathology results (where applicable) and answer any questions that arise.
If your case requires it, I coordinate with your other treating doctors to ensure continuity of care.

What is worth knowing before an operation.
A well-informed patient can take a fuller part in decisions about their care and their preparation for surgery. These are the points that raise the most questions before gallbladder, hernia or other gastrointestinal surgery.

Before proposing an operation, I review your symptoms and investigations thoroughly. Some cases are resolved with medical treatment; others do require surgery, and that is where I can help you.
Investigations usually requested before surgery
Basic laboratory tests and an imaging study (ultrasound, endoscopy or another) are generally requested, depending on the diagnosis. If your case requires it, these may be extended with a cardiology assessment or other additional studies before surgery.
Key questions for your surgeon
Which technique will be used (laparoscopic or open), how long the hospital stay lasts, and what aftercare you will need. Settle these before signing the informed consent.
Warning signs after surgery
Fever, worsening pain, redness of the wound or bleeding are signs to contact your surgeon immediately.
